How to use the Xero x brioHR integration

Whether you're coming from Xero or already on brioHR, setup takes just a few minutes.

Access Integration Settings in brioHR

Log in to your brioHR account. Navigate to HR Settings → Payroll → "Xero" then in Settings, click "Connect to Xero".

Authorise with Your Xero Account

You'll be redirected to Xero's login page. Enter your credentials to authorise brioHR to access your Xero organisation securely.

Map Payroll Elements to GL Accounts

Map each payroll item (basic salary, EPF, SOCSO, EIS, PCB, expense codes) to the appropriate Xero account codes in your chart of accounts.

Run Payroll and Sync to Xero

After finalising your payroll run in brioHR, Manual Journal Entries automatically appear in Xero instantly. No manual work needed.

What does the brioHR and Xero integration actually do?
Once you finalise a pay run in brioHR, all salary costs, statutory contributions, and approved expense claims are automatically posted to Xero as journal entries — mapped to the correct GL accounts. No manual exports, no copy-paste, no reconciliation errors.
What payroll data is transferred to Xero?
The integration transfers employee salary details and pay items, statutory contributions (EPF, SOCSO, EIS, PCB for Malaysia; CPF for Singapore), approved expense reimbursements and claims, bonuses, and allowances. You control which items map to which Xero accounts.
How long does setup take?
Most customers complete setup in 10–15 minutes. You authenticate with Xero, map your payroll elements to Xero account codes, and you're ready. Our support team is available at support@briohr.com if you need help along the way.
Can I customise which payroll items sync to Xero?
Yes. Every pay component in brioHR can be independently mapped (or excluded) to specific Xero account codes. You have full control to match your existing chart of accounts exactly.
Does this work for Malaysia, Singapore, and Indonesia?
Yes. brioHR handles statutory compliance across Malaysia (EPF, SOCSO, EIS, PCB), Singapore (CPF), and Indonesia (BPJS). All statutory amounts flow into the correct Xero accounts for each market.
Do I need to be a Xero customer to use this?
You'll need an active Xero account to use the integration. If you're new to Xero, our team can help you evaluate the fit. If you're already on Xero and new to brioHR, you can start a free trial and connect to your existing Xero organisation from day one.
